Why Every Hotel in Kanungu Needs a Website – Case Study

By Akankwasa Sharifu

I have a friend named Philimon, who first contacted me about a year ago for a web page design after being recommended by my friend, Rev. Bob Mbabazi. It was a small beginning, but it laid the foundation for a working relationship built on trust and results.

Recently, Philimon reached out to me again , this time for digital marketing services. We agreed to start with a full website redesign before expanding into other areas of his online presence. From there, the project grew into something bigger: a complete digital strategy for his hotel.

Philimon owns Bamboo Suites, a hotel located in Ndeba, Kihihi Town Council, in Kanungu District. Like many business owners in the area, he had always wanted to attract bookings from tourists online but didn’t quite know where to start or how to make it happen. So we sat down and worked out a solution together , one that would give his hotel real visibility on the platforms tourists actually use to plan their trips.

We began by revamping his website to make it more professional and user-friendly, then moved on to optimizing it for search engines (SEO) so that people searching for accommodation in Kihihi and Kanungu would be more likely to find Bamboo Suites. Alongside this, we set up and optimized his Booking.com listing and Google My Business profile, ensuring accurate information, appealing photos, and consistent visibility across the platforms travelers rely on most.

What’s particularly exciting is how quickly the results showed up. Within just one month of going live, Bamboo Suites Hotel had already started receiving bookings online . That was a clear sign that the strategy was working. The most recent booking came from a group of foreign tourists, proof that the hotel is now reaching an audience it previously had no way of connecting with.

This experience reinforces something I often tell business owners across Kanungu: invest in your online presence, and do it early. In today’s digital world, most people research a business on the internet long before they ever pick up the phone or walk through the door. The businesses that show up online clearly, professionally, and consistently are the ones that win that first impression, and often the sale.
